Abstarct: In the present study, using experimental and numerical method, the management and harvesting of river-bed materials have been investigated with regard to the river flow for better recovery of pits. In this regard, the variables of the shape of extraction, the distance between the pits, the distance between the pits from the wall and the depth of extraction were evaluated. The experimental channel used in this study was straight, with a rectangular section, 14 m long, 1.5 m wide and 0.5 m deep, and materials with a mean diameter of 1 mm were used. CCHE2D software was also used for numerical modeling. The results of experimental study and numerical modeling show that the moving of the downstream pits does not affect the volume of the filled upstream pits, but the extraction near of the channel wall leads to a 25% reduction in the volume of the upstream pit filled up compared to the ectraction at the center of the channel.Which is independent of the shape of the extraction. In terms of extraction along the length of the channel, with increasing the distance between the pits, the filling volume of the downstraem pits is reduced, which is independent of the pit distance to the wall, but under extraction conditions along the channel width and in the center of the channel, by increasing the distance between the pits, The volume of the filled downstream pit increases and will decrease in the near-wall extraction. By increasing the length to width ratio of the pits, the fill and migration of the pits are reduced to the downstram side and the maximum depth of the pits increases. The doubling of the length to pits width will reduce about 30% of the filled volume. On the other hand, for pits length- width ratios of less than 1.2, the pit is completely filled and the shape of the extraction is not affected. By changing the depth of the pits with a fixed initial volume, a change in the filled volume of upstream and downstream pits does not occur, but by decreasing the depth of the pits with variable volume, the infilling volume of the pits increases up to 15%. According to the results of the experimental study and numerical modeling, it can be concluded that the ectraction along the channel width is far better than extraction along the length of the channel, and the lower the ratio of the length to the width of the pits, the better filling and the distance of the extraction points Which is economically feasible. If extraction is done in the longitudinal direction, it should be done to make the extraction in the surface laxyers of the bed.
