Abstarct: Cross-lixnked Polyethylene (XLPE) is an excellent insulating material for high-voltage cables and is widely used as electrical cable coating due to its electrical resistance and thermal and insulation properties. Technical challenges and the low fluidity of XLPE have made the burial of XLPE wastes the most applied technique for their disposal. Burning XLPE is associated with environmental pollution and their burial requires unused lands. Crushed XLPE wastes were incorporated in Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) to replace fine aggregates of 1/18 to 2/36 mm size, retained on the sieve no. 8, in volume fractions of 25, 50, and 75%, and the mechanical properties of the mix were evaluated. To this end, the Marshall method was used to prepare specimens; and resilient modulus and fatigue tests by the Indirect Tensile Stiffness Modulus Test (at temperatures 5, and 25°C) were used to evaluate the dynamic behavior of the asphalt mix and the Marshall stability test was used to determine moisture susceptibility. Results suggest that the use of crushed XLPE wastes as aggregates enhances the fatigue life and the resilient modulus of the asphalt mix at 5°C, and increasing the XLPE content results in further enhancement of the resilient modulus and fatigue life at this temperature. However, at the higher temperature of 25°C, the resilient modulus and fatigue life are reduced as XLPE content is increased. Moreover, the MSR values showed the samples containing XLPE to have good moisture resistance.
