Abstarct: This study was conducted in a field experiment, conducted in research farm of Shahrood University of Technoligy (36ْ 29َ N , 54ْ 55َ E), Semnan, Iran to quantify the phenological response of Notrofeed millet to temperature and photoperiod. This experimental design was a completely randomaized with factorial arrangement in 4 replication in 2006-2007. The six sowing dates (from 1 July to 20 August, with 10 days interval) were selected to provide various temperature and photoperiod situations. The data regarding No. of days to emergence and to tillering were recorded and analyzed. Among various functions used in this study, simple linear function, and Squared Logistic functions appeared to be appropriate to describe changes in emergence and in tillering, respectively. The predicted baxse temperature by linear function was 15.5 oC. The baxse and optimum temperatures for tillering tended to be 9.4 and 35 oC, respectively. The ceiling temperature was considered to be constant (45 oC). The estimated critical photoperiod and photoperiod sensitivity coefficient were 14.45 h and -0.0483, respectively. It was required 1.2 to 1.42 biological days from sowing to emergence, and 1.16 to 4.42 biological days from sowing to tillering. It was appeared that this crop has a quantitative or facultative short-day response to photoperiod.
