Abstarct: In recent decades, application of chemical inputs in agricultural lands has caused a lot of environmental problems. On the other hand, the long term cultivations have decreased the content of organic carbon in the soil and also increased the concentration of carbon dioxide in atmosphere and resumed climate change. Organic fertilizers such as vermicompost (VC) can incearase the content of organic carbon in soil and balance the nutrients for plants. Foliar application of organic acids such as humic acid (HA) could supply plant with minerals through leaf uptake. This study was aimed to investigate the effects of different VC and HA levels on yield of corn (Zwa mays L.). A field experiment was carried out as factorial baxsed on randomized complete block design with three replications in Research Farm of Shahrood University of Technology. The factors were four levels of HA [0 (control), 800, 1600 and 2400 ml ha-1] and three levels of VC [0 (control), 5 and 10 ton ha-1]. The results indicated that these two organic materials tended to have significant effects on yield and yield components, including ear number, number of grain rows per ear, grain number per ear, grain weight and biological yield. Application of 5 and 10 tons per hectar VC increased grain yield by 39 and 46%, respectively as compared to control. The foliar spraying of 800, 1600 and 2400 ml HA increased the grain yield by 25, 37 and 59% of the control. The interaction between HA and VC was significant just for number of seeds per row; the maximum value of this attribute (56 seeds per row) was found for simultaneous application of 2400 ml HA and 10 ton ha-1 VC. The results of this study indicated that application of 2400 ml HA and 5 ton ha-1 VC could improve the corn yield and they could be considered as a step toward sustainable agriculture.
