S219 : Effect of zeolite and arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi in different phosphorus levels on yield and yield component of maize (Zea mays)

Abstarct: Sustainable soil fertility plays an important role on agricultural development and preventing the destruction agricultural. The use of soil amendment such as zeolites plays an effective role in achieving optimum yield with efficient Inputs of water and fertilizers to achieve sustainable management of soil. Mycorrhizal fungi is important in Sustainable agricultural and organic production. This study was carried out to consider the effects of mycorrhizal fungi and zeolite at different levels of phosphorus chemical fertilizer on yield and yield component of (SC704). The experiment was performed as factorial baxsed on the randomized complete block design with three replications. The experiment factors were include mycorrhiza at two levels, inoculated and non inoculated, zeolites at two levels, 0 and 9 tons per hectare and triple superphosphate chemical fertilizer at three levels, 0, 50 and 100 kg per hectare. The field experiment was located in faculty agricultural in shahrood university at bastam city (north east of iran).The results showed that the separate usage of mycorrhiza and zeolite was significant on some morphological and agronomic traits such as height, stem diameter, leaf area index, 100-seed weight, cob weight. Mycorrhizal inoculation led to a significant increase in the seed phosphorus concentration and increased seed yield per hectare. Mycorrhizal and zeolite interaction effects were significant on number of seeds per row, plant height and weight Cob. Triple interactions of mycorrhizal, zeolite and phosphorus was significant on the biological yied and the number of kernel rows per cob. The combined use of mycorrhiza and zeolite without using of chemical fertilizers increased biological yield compared to control plant to the amount of 44%, while using only 100 and 50 kg phosphorus fertilizer per hectare increased biological yied about 52% and 39% respectively. Also mycorrhiza application significant increased in seed yield about 16/5%. It seems that the use of mycorrhizal fungi and soil amendments (zeolite) can replace a portion of phosphorus fertilizers on maize cropping. The results can be used in organic and sustainable farming.
