Abstarct: The study area, as a part of 1/100000 geological sheets of Moaleman, Rezveh and khors, is located in south to SW of Shahrood city in Semnan province. baxsed on the available Geological information , in the study area, Intrusive and extrusive igneous rocks are observed with the volcano-sedimentary and sedimentary rocks belonging to different geological times. These rock units are enclosed by two main strike-slip faults including Enjilo in north and Torud in south. The main part of the igneous units of this area, are basaltic volcanic rocks, andesite to dacite and Pyroclastic rocks associated with middle-upper Eocene which has been cut by younger subvolcanic intrusions (Upper Eocene). The intrusives are more seen in the form of small stocks and dike and are made of granite, granodiorite and diorite. The sedimentary units are made of limestone, shale and Sandstone and mainly belonys to Triassic to Cretaceous in age. In this research, Landsat and Terra satellite images (ETM and+ASTER sensors) have been used in qualitative and quantitative methods of remote sensing to identify and separate the rock units of the area. In separation of rock units and geological phenomena (Alteration and lineations) in qualitative methods, false color composition methods, the band ratio and the optional and standard principal component analysis have been used and acceptable results were obtained. In quantitative methods as well as using at least a minimum contribution of noise, the volume was reduced from satellite data. then by using the extraction method of net users with a purity index and n-dimentional display, the pure picture elements (pixels) were calculated. Finally, by using the classification method of spectral angle mapping, rock units are identified and separated. By using the results of both qualitative and quantitative methods, geological map was prepared. Field studies and laboratory studies of rock samples were used to validate mapped. The results of the study area indicate that the proper use of remote sensing methods can reduce the costs of geological mapping, especially in impassable areas.
