Abstarct: The heights of north Shahrood (The study area) is a part of south margin of the Eastern Alborz. Stratigraphic investigation confirmed outcrops of Mesozoic rock units in this area with northeast-southwest structural trend. The south margin of those heights is covered by Quaternary deposits, which the Shahrood city was established on it. In this research, fractures of this rock units were studied. In addition to Shahrood thrust that is result of Paleotectonics processes another neotectonic faults to be formed in the study area including Shahrood Quaternary fault , East Abshar and west Abshar faults were identified. The strikes of these faults are northeast-southwest , northwest- southeast and east- west respectively. The most important of these faults is Shahrood Quaternary fault with left lateral strike slip mechanism and that it ̓s about length 60 km from Shahrood to Damghan. Presence of Shahrood Thrust accompanied by cross- cutting sliekenlines, showing the multiple movement Phases. The youngest of these slip phases has large strike slip component .calculations of paleostress baxsed on neotectonic fault slip data present the circumstances of principal stress σ1, σ2 and σ3, 05/001, 80/238 and 08/092, respectively. It seems that this stress field accompanied by movements of Shahrood Quaternary faults the existing fractures can be results of neotectonic stress field on are inherited fracture. That is activated neotectonic stress regime
