Abstarct: Harat plain located 240Km far from south of Yazd city. I is one of the extensive plains in Yazd province, important from agricultural points of view. The average hydrograph of the aquifer shows a decreasing trend and groundwater level declines about 12.71m during a period of 25 years from September 1990 to February 2015 with an annual declining rate of 50 cm. the histogram of the precipitation during this period shows that a clear decrease in precipitation from 2004 while the storm events have been increased. The average hydrograph show a decreasing tend from 2005 which is in accordance with reduction of precipitation. It must be mentioned that air temperature has increased from early 2000s , which increases evapotranspiration, enhances discharge of groundwater resources and finally decrease in water level. The number of discharging wells with pumping duration has increased from 1996 to 2010, which is introduced as one of the causes of groundwater level decrease from 2005. Time series of precipitation and groundwater level using cross correlation and cross spectrum result in a lag time of 1 to5 month. In order to calculated recharge to Harat aquifer, specific yield was estimated at 7% considering soil textures of well logs. The annual average of recharge was estimated to be 15.29 MCM. The relationship between aquifer recharge and the ratio of precipitation to the number of storm events shows a good correlation (R2=0.79) confirm their close relation.
