QE23 : Site Selection of Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in Golpaygan City

Development of cities and residential area along with the increase of population, results to producing of different type of municipal wastes. Nowadays, the management of high amount of wastes is one of the important environmental problems. Landfill site selection is a serious and time consuming process because the many affective parameters. The recent studies show that the GIS which are useful tools for management of placement data could be use for selection of suitable landfill sites with less time and low price. In this research, the suitable landfill site is proposed for Golpaygan city using of more efficacious parameters such as geology, topography, slope, hydrology, hydrogeology, land use, residential area, flood, permeability, water quality and depth of groundwater. For this, the data laxyers are produced for all parameters and the acceptable ranges are selected for each of them.
For combination of laxyers the simple additive weighting method and Arcveiw software are used. The methods of site selection in this study include three steps of: 1) susceptible landfill zonation area and proposed of most suitable area, 2) site visit and writhing the characteristics of all proposed sites and 3) ranking the sites by environmental assessments score using the Leopold matrix. By this, more of all site precedence of elected sites and proposed of final site. The result of this study show that the more appropriate landfill site by less environmental effects located in north-east of Golpaygan city. The area of this site is about 50 square kilometers and its distance from Golpaygan city center is about 23 km.
