Undoubtedly, the economic growth and development of advanced countries has not been possible without sufficient energy consumption, but energy consumption has also caused environmental pollution and has caused concerns about global warming and climate change. Therefore, developed countries are more and more inclined towards increasing energy productivity and replacing renewable energies instead of non-renewable energies. On the other hand, maintaining and promoting economic development, especially improving the human development index, is vital for all countries, including developed countries. Therefore, the main goal of this research is to investigate the impact of pollutant gas emissions on the human development index in selected developed countries. For this purpose, the panel data of OECD countries in the period 2000-2020 is used. The results of stationary panel tests show that there is a combination of I(0) and I(1) variables in the model. Therefore, the regression is estimated with Panel-ARDL (MG method). The estimation results indicate that in the long term, an increase in pollution causes a decrease in the human development index, so that with a one percent increase in carbon dioxide emissions, the human development index decreases by 0.24 percent. In addition, the increase in renewable energy consumption causes a decrease in the human development index; So that with a one percent increase in renewable energy consumption, the human development index decreases by 0.08 percent. In addition, in the long term, economic growth (per capita income) increases the human development index.
