HA211 : The estimation of human capital in Iranian industries

Abstarct: Human capital is a greatly important factor for increasing economical rate in countries all over the world and has therefore been taken into account in economical studies by many contemporary economists. In the past, the lack of material and physical capital was considered as the cause of underdevelopment in developing countries, but at the present time, investment in human capital and workforce improvement is highly considered, inasmuch as human capital is defined as a completely economical concept. The value of products should increase with the elevation of human capital as one of the inputs of production. Moreover, the increase in graduated employees indicates the increase in workforce supply with human capital, and with respect to the fact that work market should be balanced, it is highly required that the demand accordingly takes the same path. Therefore, in the present study, the demand part in the balance procedure is considered. It is considered that investigation of the factors affecting educated workforce demand in the industry section of Iran is vital. The study estimates the function of human capital demand. Panel Smooth Transition Regression (PSTR) is used as the approach of the study. The results indicate the positive, significant effect of capital, research and development costs, and export, and the negative effect of interest rate, product values and wage, on workforce demand.
