Abstarct: Volunteers are a valuable form of capital for many sporting events as they help reduce the cost of provision and ease the budget sporting events compared to full time staff. Understanding satisfactions and organizational commitment of volunteers and factors affecting them would help event managers to better recruit, manage and retain volunteers. The purpose of this study was to assess relationship between work ethic, satisfaction and organizational commitment among sport volunteers in 12th Iranian Universities Sport Olympiad. The method applied in this research was descxriptive-correlation. The research statistic population consists of all volunteers participating in 12th sport-cultural Olympiad of male and female students of universities all around the country. Due to the low content of the population, the sample was obtained in a whole counting manner (n=N). In fact, 133 persons were evaluated as the sample of the research. For collecting the data, 3 questionnaires of work ethic (Petty,1990) comprised of 50 items and consisted of 4 factors (health and human relations, seriousness and persistence, interest, cooperation), the satisfaction of volunteer experiences questionnaire (Mallaei et al, 2009) comprised of 18 items and consisted of 6 factors (experience, material, purposive, social, protection, enhancement) and organizational commitment questionnaire (Allen and Mayer, 1991) comprised of 18 items and consisted of 3 factors (affective, continuous, normative ) were used. Face and content validity of the questionnaires were approved by experts. In a pilot study, using Cronbach's alpha correlation coefficient, the reliability of work ethic, satisfaction of volunteer experiences and organizational commitment questionnaires were calculated to be 0.82, 0.91, and 0.92, respectively. Descxriptive and inferential statistics were used to evaluate the data. To analyze the data, structural equations modeling (to determine causative relationships) and Friedman Test (to prioritize work ethic factors) were used at p < 0.05. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between work ethic and satisfaction, work ethic and organizational commitment, satisfaction and organizational commitment of volunteers. Furthermore, the results of the present study revealed that from the prespectives of the volunteers in the event, having a healthy and humanistic relationship and cooperation were respectively the most and the least important work ethic factors. Therefore, for creating and performing better recruitment and retention strategies of volunteers, sport event managers must pay attention to satisfaction and organizational commitment and effective factors including work ethic and try to improve satisfaction among sport volunteers by providing ethic codes and developing work ethic principles and thereby develop their partnership continuity. Also, by considering the priority of work ethic factors and promoting them, provide their high and efficient participations.
