Abstarct: Vitamin D deficiency plays an important role in decreasing muscle mass, and its serum level may increase with resistance training. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of resistance training on serum vitamin D level in postmenopausal women. After invitation,22 postmenopausal women were selected using purposive sampling method and randomly assigned into a training group (N=12) and control group (N=10). Resistance training was performed 2 day/week with low intensity (20-30% 1RM) for 8 weeks. Subject in control group continued previous lifestyle. Serum vitamin D, PTH and calcium levels in fasting and body composition by inbody instrument was measured before and after exercise program. The Visual Analog Scale-baxsed appetite questionnaires were filled in the morning of the 1st session of the first and fifth weeks and also in the morning of the day after the final session of the 8th week of the training. Covariance test, repeatet measure was run to analyze the data. P≤0/05 was considered for significant level of test. After 8 weeks resistance training the result was showed that appetite scale did not change. Serum level vitamin D and muscle strength significantly increased in exercise relative to control grope.Body weight significantly decreased while lean mass and no change significantly. There wasn’t any significant corrolation between VitaminDserum level and component of body composition inclusive; BMI, weist cicomfrance, body weight, body fat mass and precentage after resistance program. Nevertheless significant coefficient showed a stronge corolation between body weight, fat mass and BMI. vitamin D deficiency can significantly improve by exercise and even without change in sun exposure and use diet supplementation, although effect of resistance training on vitamin D serum level confirmingneed to more study with greater statistical sample. On the other hand because of increased vitaminD serum level accompine with body wigth loss it have suggeest that vitaminD serum concentrationmeasured befor training program.
