GV49 : The relationship of psychological empowerment with employee’s job satisfaction and internal service quality in Youth and Sport offices of North and Razavi Khorasan provinces

Abstarct: The purpose of present research was to investigate the relationship between psychological empowerment with job satisfaction and internal service quality of the employee of sport and youth organizations of Khorasan Razavi and Khorasan Shomali provinces. The research method is descxriptive-correlational and the statistical population consisted of all staff (N=462) of sport and youth organizations of Khorasan Razavi and Khorasan Shomali provinces. In order to collect data, demographic characteristics, psychological empowerment (Spreitzer, 1995), job satisfaction Subscale of Michigan organizational Assessment (Cammann, Fichman, Jenkins & Klesh, 1979) and internal services quality (Di Xie, 2005) questionnaires were used. The face and content validity of the questionnaires were examined and confirmed by 10 experts and masters of sport management and construct validity of the questionnaires was confirmed using factor analysis. Then, in order to determine the reliability of the questionnaires, a preliminary study was performed on a 30-person group of staff. The results of Cronbach’s alpha test (psychological empowerment, α=0.84), (job satisfaction, α=0.71), (internal service quality, α=0.91) showed that the questionnaires have an acceptable reliability. The research results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between psychological empowerment and job satisfaction as well as between psychological empowerment and internal service quality. The highest correlation was between psychological empowerment and internal service quality (r=0.57). The results of structural equation modeling test showed that the psychological empowerment has a direct effect on job satisfaction (0.37). Moreover, psychological empowerment has both direct (0.48) and indirect (0.07) effects on internal service quality. Job satisfaction has a significant direct effect on internal service quality (0.21). In the total effect section, in was found that the highest effect on internal service quality is related to psychological empowerment. The determination coefficient of endogenous variable showed that 35% of variance of internal service quality was explained by psychological empowerment and job satisfaction and 13% of total variations of job satisfaction were explained by psychological empowerment among the staff. Finally, all model fitness indices indicated a relatively good fit of the model
