GV341 : The effect of 12 weeks of endurance training on arterial stiffness and Klotho in patients with chronic kidney disease

Abstarct: Context and purpose:
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is one of the major health challenges of this century, which is gradually increasing in different societies. This disease is defined by a gradual decrease in kidney function and can lead to kidney failure. The risk factors of this disease mainly include diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and family history. CKD is usually asymptomatic in the early stages, but as the disease progresses, symptoms such as fatigue, loss of appetite, swelling, and sleep problems appear. It significantly affects the quality of a person's life. In addition to physical complications, this disease can put a heavy psychological burden on patients. Research in the field of CKD has focused its main goal on identifying key components in the prevention and management of this disease. Lifestyle changes, careful monitoring of health status and timely interventions can significantly reduce the risk of disease progression. Also, knowing the risk factors and providing educational programs to the sufferers can play a significant role in controlling this disease and improving the level of public health. The purpose of this research is the effect of exercise training on the levels of calcium, phosphorus, arterial stiffness, creatinine and glomerular filtration and aerobic capacity in women with chronic kidney disease.
Materials and methods:
The current research is an experimental type and a clinical trial that was conducted in the form of a pre-test and post-test design. The statistical population of this research was women suffering from chronic kidney disease referring to Imam Hossein Shahroud hospital and clinics and dialysis center, of which 24 people were divided into two groups of control and endurance training. These people were in the age range of 65 to 38 years with body mass less than 40 and blood pressure less than 18. The exercises consisted of 3 sessions per week for 12 weeks and each session consisted of 20 to 45 minutes of running on the treadmill with an intensity of 65-70% of the maximum heart rate. The participants' blood samples were taken 48 hours before training and 48 hours after training in a fasting state, and the ELISA method was used to measure Klotho. Also, the arterial stiffness test was performed with the vasera 2000 Fukada device from Japan and the body composition was performed using the In Body device. The data were analyzed using Kolmogorov Smirnov tests, dependent t and analysis of covariance at a significant level (P<0.05).
Results:
The analysis of the data showed that endurance training had a significant effect on phosphorus levels and it caused a significant decrease in the training group compared to the control group. Also, endurance training has affected the body composition index (BMI) and caused a significant decrease in the training group compared to the control group; Also, ankle-brachial index (ABI) and Klotho were affected by endurance training and faced a significant increase in both training and control groups. Due to the effect of endurance training, systolic blood pressure decreased in the training group, while diastolic blood pressure was not affected and no changes were observed in the groups. Also, endurance training has no effect on calcium and creatinine levels in these patients and in the training and control groups. It seems that if the endurance training is continuous, it may cause significant factors and positive effects.
Conclusion:
In general, it is said that aerobic exercises can improve Klotho indices, body composition, systolic blood pressure, aerobic capacity and ankle-brachial index in women with chronic kidney disease and this can cause Improve the condition of patients.
