Abstarct: Abstract This study aimed to investigate the effect of job autonomy on organizational citizenship behavior with the mediating role of job embeddedness of physical education teachers. In conditions of purpose, this research was applied and descxriptive-correlational in terms of method. The statistical population of this study was 204 physical education teachers in Babol city, of whom 130 were selected by a simple random sampling method. G Power software was used to obtain the sample size. Data were collected using questionnaires, job autonomy of Lupis and Foss (2016), job embeddedness of Karatepe and Vatankhah (2014) and citizenship behavior of Buil et al (2019). The validity of the questionnaires was assessed and confirmed by experts, and Cronbach's alpha confirmed the reliability. The structural equation modeling method and the partial least squares approach were used to analyse the data. In this regard, two software Smart-PLS3 and SPSS26, were used. The results showed that job autonomy and job embeddedness had a positive and significant effect on the citizenship behavior of physical education teachers in Babol city. Job autonomy had a positive and significant impact on the job embeddedness of physical education teachers. Finally, the indirect and significant effect of the job autonomy variable on citizenship behavior with a mediating role in the job embeddedness of teachers in Babol was also confirmed. Therefore, considering the effect of job autonomy on citizenship behavior and job embeddedness, it is suggested that managers consider the job autonomy of sports teachers and provide them with more accessible freedom of action and workspace.
