Abstarct: Background: While body fat reserves establish hormonal balance and regulate body temperature and energy storage, its excessive accumulation in certain areas may cause negative impacts on individual’s optimal performance, strength and agility. So then, duo to vital role of referees and their assistants in the outcome of football competitions, studying this subject is a matter of attention. Objective: This research aims at determining the correlation between body fat percentage and new anthropometric indices including body mass index (BMI), body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), Waist-Hip Ratio (WHR), Abdominal volume index (AVI), body Adiposity index (BAI), Conicity Index (CI), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) , body density and body image questionnaire. Method: At first, 196 individuals were selected voluntarily from among Tehran Football Referees (20.9% aged 19 to 25 and the rest were older than 25). To start, they were asked to complete the body image questionnaire including 68 questions in order to assess their attitude toward different aspects of body fat structure. Hence participants’ weight, height, skin folds and other body dimensions (hip circumference, waist circumference,…) were measured at 8-9 A.M in accordance with the recommendations of ISAK. Statistical and correlation analysis were determined by Pearson Torque Correlation-Coefficient test. Conclusion: Our investigation results in a significant correlation between ABSI, AVI, WHtR, BAI indices and body fat percentage. Moreover, it shows a strong and direct relation between WHtR and BRI, WHtR and AVI, WHtR and CI, BRI and AVI, and AVI and CI, and a strong inverse relation between BMI and ABSI.
