GV165 : Identify and Prioritize the Factor Affecting Organizational Anomie of Sport and Youth Offices by Using Interpretive Structural Modeling

Abstarct: The aim of the present study was to “identify and prioritize the factor affecting organizational anomie of sport and youth offices by using interpretive structural modeling (ISM)”. The method of the study was of exploratory mix method and was practical in terms of aim. In order to collect data, two approaches of interview and questionnaire were used. The statistical population of the current study was comprised of managers, deputies and employees of sport and youth offices of counties of Razavi Khorasan and North Khorasan provinces (totally 325 persons). In order to conduct interview and acquire the necessary detailed information regarding the intended issue in qualitative stage, 15 persons from the statistical population were chosen as statistical sample by using snowballing method. Furthermore, in quantitative stage, ISM questionnaire were completed by 15 persons of the research population. In qualitative stage, 36 primary code were extracted, which were further reduced by 8 main items in axial coding. These items were inappropriate leadership and management style, inappropriate appointments, inefficient human resources, organizational discrimination, dependency on government, managers' traditionalism, weakness in professional ethics and inappropriate organizational culture. The results of ISM showed that factors influencing organizational anomie were divided into two levels; the first level included inappropriate leadership and management style, inappropriate appointments, inefficient human resources, organizational discrimination, managers' traditionalism, weakness in professional ethics and inappropriate organizational culture, and the second one consisted of dependency on government. The difference between these two levels is related to their effectiveness, so that factor belonging to the second level had high effectiveness and affects all other aspects. Moreover, factors belonging to the first level are affected by the factor of the second level and have low effect on other aspects. Since organizational anomie leads to disorder and chaos in sport and youth offices, related managers are recommended to take especial measures for reducing items that lead to anomie.
