Abstarct: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of deep Distributor on the hydraulic performance of Wastewater Stabilization Pond. For this purpose, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models have been used to analysis hydrodynamic of the ponds. In this study, four Wastewater Stabilization Pond with different formation was designed to create a momentum for aeration from the floor. The first geometry had not a deep distributor, but other geometries had 28, 55, and 160 distributors, respectively. The cross-section area, the volume of the ponds, and the input flow were considered the same in all conditions. For numerical simulating, OpenFoam has been used which is open-source software. In this simulation, a constant flow, turbulent regime and the K-ε turbulence model had been used. The results showed that the use of deep distributors in sewage stabilization basins has a significant effect on the efficiency and hydraulic performance of the basins. The analysis of the residence time distribution (RTD) curves illustrated that the use of deep distribution leads to uniformity of distribution in the flow of the basin. In fact, by mixing the flow more and preventing the formation of intermediate paths, the flow behavior becomes closer to the reactor plug flow, thereby increasing the purification efficiency in the pond. On the other hand, due to the direct effect of the flow pattern on how the sludge accumulation in the pond, as a result of an increase in effective volumes the use of distributors will reduce dead areas, so the purification capacity increases. According to the results obtained from this study, the use of deep distributor systems and micro-nano bubble injection in the pond can improve the hydraulic performance and ultimately improve the purification efficiency.
