Abstarct: The studied area is a part of southern margin of eastern Kope Dagh and is located at north- west of Mashhad. In this area the Mesozoic – Tertiary formations (Mozduran, Shurijeh, Tirgan, Sarcheshmeh and Neogene congelomerate) Have been affected by folding and faulting. The folds have a general orientation as north west- south east. The faults have tow main orientations as north east- south west and north west- south east. In this research geometry of folding has been studied in north of Cheshmeh Gilas village and north-east of Chenaran town as tow symbols of folding in the Kope Dagh. North of Cheshmeh Gilas folding including southern anticline, median syncline and northern anticline baxsed on Fleuty’s fold classification (1964) are Gently plunging- Upright, Horizontal-Upright and Horizontal- steeply inclined types respectively. North- east of Chenaran folding (Ghorogh syncline) is horizontal- Steeply inclined type. Northern Cheshme Gilas anticline is Tight type and Ghorogh syncline, southern Cheshme Gilas anticline and median Cheshme Gilas syncline are Open type in feluty (1964) fold classification baxsed on inter limb angel. In this zone tow groups of faults have been studied. The first group has a north west-south east general orientation and consists of Bozmehrun, Baru, Ardak and Cheshme Gilas faults. Bozmehrun and Baru faults have a right –lateral strike-slip revers mechanism. Ardak and Cheshme Gilas faults have a revers mechanism. The second group has a north east- south west general orientation and consists of Muchenan and Bahman¬Jan faults. Muchenan and Bahman¬Jan faults have right-lateral revers and left-lateral revers mechanism respectively. Some faults like Ardak, Bahman¬jan and Muchenan faults introduced for first time in this study. Comparison of measured joints in Mozduran, Shurijeh, Tirgan formations and neogene conglomerate in south-eastern and north-western terminations on north of Cheshmeh Gilas folding and Ardak, Ali-Abad, Radkan, Bahman jan and Muchenan sections on Ghorogh syncline with geometric elements of studied folds, indicates that the joints are related to folding. Using fault slip analysis on Mozduran, Shurijeh, Tirgan Formations and neogen conglomerate we find out the state of three main stress axes δ1, δ2 and δ3 during neo tectonics period are 039/01, 309/00 and 214/89 respectively.
