Abstarct: Materials that rotate the plane of polarization of a linearly polarized light are called optically active materials. In this thesis, I reproduce the results of Barron and Atkins. The main character of this study is the quantization of both the electromagnetic field and the atom. Moreover, we review the superradiance effect. This cooperative effect, that N atoms radiate more than N times of an atom radiation, maybe extended to the optical activity phenomena.
