Abstarct: Hard nano coatings such as titanium nitride and chromium nitride are widely used in industrial environments and cutting tools due to their unique characteristics such as high hardness and strength, high wear and corrosion resistance. When these composite coatings are used in multilxayer form, they create very good mechanical properties. These coatings are created by different physical and chemical vapor phase laxyering methods. In this research, a TiN/CrN double-laxyer coating with a total thickness of 1.5 to 2 μm was created on the surface of 1.3255 high-speed tool steel by the method of physical vapor phase deposition with the help of cathodic arc (Arc-PVD). The preparation of the substrate and the precise creation of the coating parameters were created with the help of the Arc-PVD machine on the high-speed steel. Then phase analyzes and microscopy of AFM, GIXRD and FE-SEM equipped with EDS were performed on coated and uncoated samples. After confirming the chemical composition of the coating with the help of quantum microstructural test, mechanical and tribological tests including nano-hardness measurement, nano-scratch and abrasion resistance were performed with pin-on-disk test. Electrochemical impedance corrosion tests and potentiodynamic polarization in Ringer's solution were used to determine the corrosion resistance characteristics of the samples. The results of the tests showed that TiN/CrN nano-coating has higher hardness, higher Young's modulus, lower wear rate and the lowest corrosion rate compared to the uncoated high-speed steel sample. Finally, suitable applications for nanocomposite coatings on high-speed steel for use on cutting tool steel used in the industry were stated.
