TN903 : Designing and constructing a trainer tri-axial geophone sensor with 10 Hz natural frequency

Abstarct: Nowadays, educational assistance instruments are very effective in improving the learning quality of theoretical concepts for students. In this study designing and manufacturing a trainer seismic geophone is presented. Geophone is seismic wave receiver with the exploration and investigating surveys. The main application of the geophone is hydrocarbon exploration and also using in engineering seismology for studying subsurface conditions of important structures such as dams, powerhouses, bridges and etc. In this paper, the elements of a geophone including magnet, coil, spring and resistor shunt are explained and the procedure of designing and manufacturing is studied. Students could use this instrument to be more familiar with the principles of a geophone and its applicability to learn the concepts of seismic wave.
