Abstarct: The depth of penetration of the electromagnetic field in the magnetotelluric method, low cost of this method and also the presence of hydrothermal alteration zones around the geothermal reservoir has been caused the use of this method in the exploration of geothermal resources structures, after a series of preliminary studies. Thermal energy of hot fluids and gases in land driven into the ground in a various shapes like volcano eruptions, hot spring, geysers or faults nd fractures. Azerbaijan region has the potential for using the geothermal energy due to locating in the Tertiary volcanic belt in one hand and having special climate on the other hand. The purpose of this study is processing, 1-D and 2-D modeling and interpretation of magnetotelluric data in the North Sabalanto emplore the geothermal reservoir and to determine the depth of the reservoir. To achieve this goal 1-D and 2-D inversion of magnetotelluric data was done and the results of the modeling were analyzed with other information. With the result of 1-D and 2-D modeling of MT data and the resistivity modeling section and maps, the altered zones and clay capping position were found. The location of the reservoir was determined at a depth of approximately 2000 meter under 205, 206 and 207 stations. The lateral extension of this reservoir is extended to the west and the lateral extension at a depth of approximately 1500 meters was discovered under 209, 210 and 211 stations. The modeling results show that the place of rising fluids and hot gases was between 17 and 203 stations.
