Abstarct: Drilling has special importance as the first step in opening mining. Due to the high investment volume, penetration rate prediction in drilling advance, mine planning and rock characteristics prediction, determining of switching time of bit and costs reduction in mining is necessary. With regard to importance of this subject, the main purpose of this study is mining area zoning from the viewpoint of rock mass drill ability and drilling speed using Inverse distance method. In this study first, effective parameters on drill ability was considered in according to previous researches and studies from available academic texts and essays and the most important effective parameters on drill ability and penetration rate was identified. As regards that drill ability has depend on different parameters, according to RDi that is consist of effective parameters on penetration rate, has been used for suitable methods. In the following, for study and investigation of rack mass of marl mine 1 of the east cement corporation, the parameters of RDi of area has been caught for field and laboratory and was tested in laboratory and RDi scores was determined for each pattern. Also, penetration rate of each pattern was registered and the average rate of penetration for each pattern was calculated. Then the relationship between effective parameters on drill ability and penetration rate and also the relationship between rocks drilling index with penetration rate was checked out and it was concluded that there is a good relationship between RDi and penetration rate and it has been used for predicting of penetration rate. In the next step, the rocks of area was divided in 52 zones and the quantitative parameters of RDi as well as qualitative parameters was estimated with inverse distance to a power method. Then the rocks of the area were classified baxsed on penetration rate in two parts: middle and middle-fast. At the end, by using GIS software, the area of study has been zoned baxsed on RDi and penetration rate.
