Abstarct: In this study, solvent extraction of zinc from waste water liquid produced by the Angouran lead and zinc plant (Calcimin Co) was investigated. Waste water liquid containing zinc, was first filtered through a filter paper. Then zinc mextal was extracted by solvent extraction process and in the next step, organic phase containing the zinc mextal was stripped. In the extraction stage, operating variables, such as equilibrium pH, D2EHPA concentration, temperature, stirring speed, extraction time, aqueous/organic phase ratio (A/O) were studied and suitable conditions was as follows: equilibrium of pH 2.5,10% w/w D2EHPA diluted in kerosene, temperature of 25°C, stirring speed of 300 r/min, extraction time of 10 min, aqueous/organic phase ratio (A/O) of 1׃1 According to the mccabe thiele curve, the number of theoretical extraction involves two steps. Then the next stage of the study was extraction zinc modeling. Effective parameters were considered and by the statistical design of experiments (CCD) was considered appropriate experimental design and using software DX7 appropriate modeling process was determined. Optimum zinc extraction conditions were determined. condition of extraction process was one of the points optimal experimental conditions (equilibrium of pH 2.5,10% w/w D2EHPA diluted in kerosene, temperature of 25°C). Finally, %89.14 zinc can be extracted from the waste water liquid In the strip stage, operating variables, such as acidity and organic/aqueous phase ratio (O/A) were studied and suitable conditions was as follows: acidity of 80 g/l and organic/aqueous phase ratio (O/A) of 1:1. 98.8% zinc can be stripped in these condition but ultimate aim is a concentrated solution of the strip. So the organic/aqueousphase 4:1 was selected and the final concentration of zinc to reach 12.56 g/l.
