Abstarct: However mechanized tunnelling improve tunnelling industry, but tunnelling projects has many risks due to its working conditions. Also mechanized tunnelling method needs many time and cost. So it’s necessary to identify and assessment of probable geotechnical and geological risks in mechanized tunnelling. In this thesis, in the first it has surveyed risk management methods and has selected suitable methods to risk assessment. Then, it has presented and has surveyed the most important geotechnical and geological risks in mechanized tunnelling in urban areas. It has identified the most important geological risks in Tabriz line 1 metro tunnel and it has surveyed quantified this risks. Then it has ranked the geological risks of Tabriz line 1 metro tunnel by using Analytical Hierachy Process (AHP) and Technique for order-Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods. The ranked data has suitable fitting with given real data from excavation of some part of Tabriz line 1 metro tunnel.
