Abstarct: Abstract In this thesis, a magnetic launcher, which is one of the types of linear motors, has been investigated. In general, a magnetic launcher is a device for launching objects that consists of three parts: a linear stator, a linear rotor, and a coil. In launchers, the stator is called primary and the rotor is called secondary. The final goal in the studies conducted for magnetic launchers is to increase its speed. In this thesis, several suggestions have been given to increase the speed, which are: optimization of the number of poles, optimization of frequency, optimization of the distance between groove and tooth, and thermal optimization. Due to the operation of the magnetic launcher in a short period of time, its current density can be higher than that of the normal motor, because increasing the current density increases the heat in the motor, so it is not possible to increase the current density in a permanent state. Using the finite element software, the simulation of the magnetic launcher is carried out and its performance period is investigated to obtain the maximum speed of the studied launcher. Accurate descxription of temperature changes in the magnetic launcher is quite difficult due to the complexity of its structure. Therefore, the amount of heat release is checked using finite element software.
