Abstarct: This thesis studies designing and tuning of a fuzzy PID controller using evolutionary algorithms for networked control systems. First, a conventional PID controller and a fuzzy PID controller are designed and tuned by using evolutionary algorithms without considering network delay. Then, NCSs are investigated with different random network delay in both communication channels. Due to the desirable performance of fuzzy PID controller in comparison with conventional PID controller, the membership functions of fuzzy logic controller are optimized in the next stage. The results of fuzzy PID controller with optimized MFs in suppression of load disturbance and unit change in set point and also annulling the random network delay effects are significantly impressive compared with the controller accompanied by standard MFs.
