Abstarct: Recently, the Disc-Type Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) has been greatly focused due to its prominent features such as the high efficiency and power factor levels, as well as the brushless structure. On the other hand, two major drawbacks of this motor are the loss of starting torque in the nominal frequency and the speed oscillations in the synchronous operation. On the other hand, despite PM motors, hysteresis motor torque is almost constant from start-up until synchronous speed is reached. Hysteresis motor doesn't have a specific synchronism point and this causes the low-frequency oscillations around the steady state synchronous speed. This paper aims to resolve such weaknesses via combining the Disc-Type PM motor with the Hysteresis motor. The resultant is named here as 'Permanent Magnet Hysteresis Synchronous (PMHS) motor'. In this pepar, the validity of the proposed structure is verified via simultaneous simulation of the PMSM and PMHS and the comparison between the results. According to these analyses, the new structure not only corrects the drawbacks of the previous PMSMs, but also is has several advantages as compared to them.
