Abstarct: Viscous fingering instability is a well-known hydrodynamic instability in porous media. This phenomena occur when a less viscous fluid is injecting in a porous media that filled with more viscous fluid. Onset and propagation of fingers are playing an important role in fluids displacement, specially in oil discovery from reservoirs. Study of viscous fingering classify in two main category: miscible and immiscible displacements. Main researches on miscible viscous fingering has been on Newtonian fluids. Investigation of non-newtonian fluids generally is numerical and with GNF models that can’t describe elastic effects. In this try, we want to investigate elastic effects on viscous fingering experimentally. Special group of dilute polymer solution that called Boger fluids, separate elastic effect from viscous effects. We increase polymer concentration to arise elastic effects. Also we use Hele-Shaw cell as a clear porous media. In this study, we investigate effects of some factors on miscible viscous fingering e.g. viscosity differences, flow rate, elasticity and surfactants. Effects of each factors on finger’s shape and sweep efficiency was expressed.
