Abstarct: Natural gas is one of the main sources of energy in the world. The gas is transferred from the production regions to consuming point in the country or from one country to other country trough pipelines. Due to long paths, gas pressure and energy due to friction between gas and the inner wall of the pipe is reduced. To overcome this energy reduction in transmission lines, compressor stations are installed in the path. Because of the annual volume of gas passing through the transmission lines, considerable amount of fuel is consumed in order to supply energy lost by compressors. This leads to many studies on the compressor stations in order to reduce the fuel consumption and consequently fuel cost. In this study, a general purpose simulation of a compressor station has been done. The optimization goal is to find the operation conditions in which the fuel consumption is minimized. The Razavi compressor station in Mashhad has been selected as case study and a simulation has been carried out to determine the fuel consumption. In the station,4 turbo compressors have been employed in parallels arrangement.
