Abstarct: Due to the growing importance of construction in human societies, various statutes have been developed and presented to build a safe and practical structure. providing these laws is mainly baxsed on the results of the latest information obtained from analytical, laboratory, and statistical methods. because of the increasing population, structures with a basic formation are being changed into massive structures. simultaneously, design statutes are also developing quickly. In our country, according to the present conditions and requirements, the construction instructions are changing fast as well. Articles 9 and 6 of the National Building Code and Standard No. 2800 are among the regulations that have been amended. Changes in building regulations have increased lateral loads on structures. As a result, it is necessary to reinforce some old concrete buildings. On the other hand, Weaknesses are seen in the implementation and execution of conventional retrofitting methods. In this research, the effect of using steel cables as braces in concrete structures has been investigated with the aim of increasing the efficiency of the lateral bearing system, eliminating some of the weaknesses of conventional methods, and presenting a new method in the field of reinforcing the concrete buildings. The advantages of this method include improving the performance of the structure during earthquakes, reducing the seismic weight of the structure, no buckling of cables, reducing human error during execution, high execution speed, very good corrosion resistance, and very high tensile strength of the cable. In this research, a convergent cable bracing with a central steel plate has been utilized to reinforce short, medium, and large old concrete constructions. Appropriate amounts of retraction force, cable diameters, and the appropriate thickness of the steel plate have been investigated as well. According to the results, the reinforcement of concrete structures with convergent cable bracing with a central plate on 12-storey buildings with cable diameter and plate thickness of 2 cm and retraction force of 0.31 cable capacity, had very high efficiency. Also, implementation of this type of reinforcement on 8-storey buildings with the cable diameter of 2 or 3 cm and plate thickness of 3 cm and retraction force of 0.29 cable capacity, and on 3-storey buildings with the cable diameter of 3 cm and plate thickness 2 or 3 cm and retraction force of 0.27 cable capacity was observed to be a very high and good performance, respectively.
