Abstarct: One of the methods that leads to the reduction of sediment entering the bays is the use of submerged plates at the mouth of the bays. Submerged plates divert sediment from the bays opening by creating secondary currents. In this research, using a physical model in the laboratory flume, the amount of sediment input was checked without using submerged plates (control test) in front of the entrance to the bay, and then by using submerged plates with several arrangements including one row, two parallel rows and two the zigzag row was investigated. Submerged vanes with a length of 16 cm and a height of 4 cm (H/L = 4) and three angles of 20, 25, and 30 degrees with respect to the flow were used. Experiments were performed with 3 different flow rates (24, 28, 32.6 lit/s). Sediment with uniform granularity (average diameter 1 mm) was used to conduct the experiments. The results showed that the installation of submerged plates with different arrangements in the mouth of the bay causes the transverse transfer of sediment and as a result the sediment does not enter the bay. Also, the results showed that the use of submerged plates at the beginning of the artificial bay controls the sediment entering the bay in all cases. The comparison of different arrangements of submerged plates showed that the arrangement of submerged plates with an angle of 30 and with a two-row zigzag arrangement had a better performance than other modes and could reduce the input sediments by 78%.
