Abstarct: Nowadays, particular attention to the monitoring and environmental pollution is a very important issue. In the present study the effects of some heavy mextals in landfill pollution was studied in Halghe Dareh Kara area. Halghe Dareh landfill is a location which municipal solid waste, hospital wastes as well as trash-building are disposed. One thousand and two hundreds to 1700 tons of wastes are disposed in the landfill area every day. The landfill leachate is transferred down to the leachate pools and 3.6 hectares of the landfill area is filled from leachates which would be a serious environmental hazard. In the present study samples were prepared from soil of scrap yard, leachate affected soils, composts as well as landfill leachate itself. Other soil samples were also taken from nearby area as blank samples. The results were compared to certified world standards. The results showed that compost had high concentrations of some heavy mextals compared to many countries standards. Landfill leachates were also shown that some heavy mextals concentrations were higher than the standards to enter into surface water sources as well as to use for irrigation. Other results showed that electrical conductivity, acidity, lime and organic matters were significantly higher in soils which are affected with landfill leachates than blank samples. In some soil samples the concentrations of heavy mextals were found to be more than double in the landfill area compared to blank samples which is the evidence of mextal accumulation in the polluted soils.
