Abstarct: One of the most important factors in the destruction of bridges on rivers is the pier and abutment scour. One of the methods to assess the scour abutment of bridge is laboratory testing. But today researchers have great attention to numerical modeling due to limitations of laboratory work. In this study, the experimental data of Khozeymenejad et al. (2012) was used for fluent numerical modeling. In the experimental model, after 1 hour the flow velocity at 9 cm height from the bottom at 156 point was measured using electromagnetic velocity-meter. For modeling, firstly the mesh of the geometry of the fixed bed after 1 hour after the start of scouring, created by Gambit software and then the flow velocity calculated with Fluent software and they compared with the experimental results. Results of study showed that same to experimental model the maximum of scour occurred at the upstream corner of the abutment. The Mean absolute error (MAE) between the result of the numerical model and laboratory models was 0.9 cm. With respect to the scour depth which was 3.31 cm, the error is 27%. Comparison showed that the velocity calculated by the Fluent model with little approximation is equal to measured velocity. Also, the most important factor for creating scour is the horizontal velocity in the flow direction which caused by decreeing flow area due to contraction of abutment. Also results of this study indicated that the average value of the longitudinal velocity was equal to 24.96 cm/s. The mean absolute error (MAE) and the percentage of errors between experimental and numerical results were 2.93 cm and 12%, respectively.
