Abstarct: The Abbasabad Eocene volcano-sedimentary belt is located about 130 km NE Shahrood in the northeastern edge of Central Iran structural zone, including a sequence of Middle-Late Eocene volcanic rocks with interlaxyers of sedimentary rocks. The volcanic rocks are olivine basalt, trachybasalt, trachyandesite basalt, trachyandesite and andesite in compositions with plagioclase, pyroxene and olivine. Thre are significant abundance of spherulitic and veinlets zeolites and associated minerals such as calcite in the cavities and fractures of the trachybasalt and related pyroclastic host rocks in the particular horizons. Zeolites are the most commonly chemical reaction products between hydrothermal fluids and crustal rocks during hydrothermal, diagenesis and low-temperature mextamorphic processes. Changing in temperature, pH, CO_2 and H_2O, Si/ Al ratio and the type of host rock are factors involved in diversity of zeolite mineralization in the area. baxsed on the results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thin section observations, the most common zeolites in the region are analcime, natrolite, prehnite and thomsonite that consequently growth as several different types of zeolites in one cavity. These types of zeolites are often formed in the cavities of alkaline-alkali rock compounds during low-temperature and diagenetic alterations, which is consistent with the geological facts, existing in the study region. Natrolite is the most zeolite species in the region, which can be applied for removing of water hardness. It can also be used as absorber for organic pollutions from the household and industrial wastewaters, filler in the paper industry, detergents and intake of heavy mextals in the agricultural industry, livestock and poultry.
