Abstarct: Zarab - Saldoran Mountainous region in the south west and west Farsan is located in the Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari Province. This mountainous region is composed mainly of limestone which has been highly karstificated. Presence of the highly karstic limestone and the relatively high average annual precipitation in the region has caused occurences of large karstic springs in the region. In this study, to investigate the general direction of groundwater flow in the study area, the following steps have been. The precipitation, considering the evelation and distance from the Zagros axis was estimated. Thus, the average annual precipitation for the catchment spring Pyreghar, Baghrostam and Babaheydar 1000 mm, 950 mm and 750 mm is estimated. The hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical characteristics of karst springs in the region (i.e. Pyreghar, Babaheydar and Baghrostam) were investigated. The abtained results of this section demonstrate that the karst aquifer in the study region is highly developed. Then the most important factors affecting the percentage of annual recharge of the region have been assessed and data laxyers in the GIS environment were prepared. These laxyers including lithology, slope, aspect, lineament density, karst features, precipitation and drainage density. After preparation of laxyers, each value is proportional to the amount of influence on the percentage of annual recharge. Using GIS software, laxyers are overlayed and finally, the average of annual recharge was determined for catchments area Babaheydar, Pyreghar and Baghrostam 68/0, 66/0 and 62/0 was determined respectively. In another part of the study, the primary catchment area of karst springs were specified using geological method. Degree of accuracy of the initial basins identified using hydrogeological budged method was investigated. Finally, after determination of springs cachment area, by paying attention to the parameters such as the route of sinkholes and dry valleys the general direction of flow were identified.
