Abstarct: In this research, graphene oxide-polyacrylic acid (GO-PAA) polymer composite was prepared by in situ method. The prepared composite was used as an adsorbent in the process of adsorption of cadmium(ll) ion from aqueous solution. GO-PAA composite was detected by conventional methods such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopy. The adsorption process of cadmium(ll) ion was investigated by GO-PAA composite and the factors affecting the adsorption process such as pH, amount of adsorbent consumed, cadmium solution concentration, contact time and temperature. Percentage and adsorption capacity of cadmium(ll) ionwith a concentration of 40 mg / L, contact time of 10 minutes and pH equal to 6.0 and 0.02 g of GO-PAA adsorbent, respectively equal to 92.72% and 117.67 mg/g was obtained. The adsorption process kinetics, using adsorption capacity data, showed that it follows a pseudo-second-order model.
