Abstarct: Polyhydroquinolines are important compounds which show a wide range of biological activies such as Ca2+ channel blockers, antiumour, antidiabetic and antiatherosclerotic. In this study di-isopropyl-ethyl ammonium soulphonic acid choloride prepared by reaction of di-isopropyl-ethyl amine and soulphonic acid choloride and the derivations of polyhydroquinolines were synthesized by di-isopropyl-ethyl ammonium soulphonic acid choloride as a catalyst. The four-component reaction of ammonium acetate, aldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and dimedon in the presence of di-isopropyl-ethyl ammonium soulphonic acid choloride under solvent-free condition at 80 ℃ to afforded polyhydroquinoline derivatives in good to excellent yields. The structure of products were confirmed using Spectroscopic data. The present method has several advantages: simple reaction conditions, ligh-yield, and experimental simplicity combined high functional group tolerance.
