Abstarct: The reaction of 4-Nitrobenzoic acid with thionyl chloride leads to the formation of 4-Nitrobenzoyl chloride. 4-nitrobenzoyl azide was synthesized upon treatment of 4-nitrobenzoyl chloride with sodium azide.4-Nitrobenzoyl azide was heated in dry toluene to give 4-Nitrophenyl isocyanate witch without separation was reacted with Ethylcarbazate to give 1-Ethoxycarbonyl-4-(4-nitrophenyl)semicarbazide.The Nitro group of 1-Ethoxycarbonyl-4-(4-nitrophenyl)semicarbazide was reacted by tin chloride dehydrate and 1-Ethoxycarbonyl-4(4-aminophenyl)semicarbazide was formed. The reaction of 1-Ethoxycarbonyl-4(4-aminophenyl)semicarbazide with Sodium ethoxide furnished 4-(4-aminophenyl)urazole. 4-(4-Aminophenyl)urazole was reacted with tetrabromophetalic anhydride in pyridine/acetic acid mixture to produce the corresponding amic acid. The structure of synthesized compound was confirmed using IR and 1HNMR spectroscopies. 4-[4-(2ʹ,3ʹ,4ʹ,5ʹ-Tetrabromo banzamido)phenyl]urazole-6ʹ-carboxylic acid was polymerized in DMF withSuccinyl dichlorideandTerephthaloyl dichloride to give new polymers with inherent viscosities in a range of 0.26-0.37 dlg-1.The characterization of the polymers was achieved using IR and 1HNMR spectroscopies, viscometery and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA/DTG).
