Abstarct: Shiff baxses and complexes have different propetties and application for the activities biological and catalysis. We describe a general synthetic strategy for the preparation of a macrocyclic ligand and its complexes. This ligands was preprated from cyclocondentation templeted of 4,4'-dibromobenzil with diethylenetriamine and 2,2-dimethylpropylenediamine in ethanol. In this research synthesis ligands of Hexaaza tetrakis(4-bromophenylene) tetraene cyclooctadecane(L1) and Tetraaza tetrakis(4-bromo¬phenylene) tetraen cyclotetradecane(L2). All mextal(II) complexes of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) Zn(II) and Cd(II) of this ligands was prepared by using the respective mextal salts as chloride with the ligands in molar ratio [1:1] of mextal:ligand. The ligand and its complexes have been characterised by Elemental analyses, ICP, Absorption atomic, IR, 1H-¬¬NMR, 13C-NMR, UV-visible and Mass spectroscopy and TGA, DTA, and conductivity measurement data. The spectral data show that Schiff baxse exist as tetradentate ligand by bonding to the mextal ion through azomethine nitrogens.
