QC309 : Effects of low-energy radiations on nano-structures

Abstarct: Particle beams are of use in industry, medicine and agriculture. In this thesis we intend to study the effects of this radiation on nano structures at low energies. But considering that the subject is a relatively new issue in the country's universities, we have to study the natural forms of the materials first. On the other hand, the first step in this review, is to calculate the amount of released energy because of radiation on the surface of the material. Knowing this makes us able to predict changes in structure, physical and mechanical properties of materials. We can also use this energy to grow new structures including nano crystals on the material surface. In this study, the Geant4 code, that is a Monte Carlo simulation code, was used to simulate the experimental system and to calculate the amount of the absorbed dose.
