Abstarct: Abstract The purpose of this research is to measure and evaluate the performance and ranking of insurance institutions baxsed on the performance index level. Also, the effect of macroeconomic variables (exchange rate, CPI and GDP per capita) on the change in the rank of companies during the period of 2016 to 2021 is investigated. Performance micro-indicators include liquidity ratios, leverage ratios, activity ratios, profitability ratios and market value ratios. After aggregating the micro-indicators with the I-Distance method in the R software environment, the performance ranking of 23 insurance companies, active in the stock market, has been done. The results of the ranking show that: the performance status of 4 companies (Tejarat-e-no, Kar Afarin, Atkaei Amin and Hafez) has improved in 2021 compared to 2016, but the performance of other companies has worsened. baxsed on the coefficient of variation criterion, the level of performance of the Kar Afarin Insurance Company fluctuated less during the period, but the Dana Insurance Company had the highest performance fluctuation. The results of two-factor variance analysis of companies' performance levels show that both company fixed effects and year change effects are effective in changing the companies' ranking. Also, the estimation of regression model of combined data has been done with Eviews software. The estimation results of the model show that: exchange rate has a positive effect and CPI and GDP per capita have a negative effect on the performance of companies.
