HA191 : Identify the effective elements of protean and boundaryless career formation and present a model for its managment

Abstarct: Over the past few decades, a fundamental change in organizations and its associated career paths happened. The economic recession during this period obliged individuals to advance by moving sideways rather than upwards in the business. The horizontal shift mainly was due to the organization's responses to intense competition and time constraint for reducing costs, which resulted in few opportunity for promotion. Organizations were restructured and downsized to increase efficiency and reduce costs. during these developments, an implicit psychological contract between the organization and each employees was violated, so the other job security and upward progression was not offered to the employees in exchange for a commitment to the organization. Thus, employees in contemporary career path, rather than remain with an organization and a line of work over the course of their employment, take on career management for Themselves and play an independent role in it. The change in employees perspective on the career has caused deformation in the current career that has Confronted organizations with new challenges and opportunities. This qualitative research has been conducted with the aim of identifying the effective factors on the formation of protean and boundaryless career and presenting a model for its management using the grounded theory systematic. For this purpose, while conducting an open interview with 20 people whit boundaryless career, project managers and expert Professors in the field of the present study, a series of primary themes were collected during the open coding process and some Categories extracted from their consequences. Then, in the axial coding step, the connection between these categories was determined by the tixtles of causal conditions, axial phenomenon, action and interaction strategies, context conditions, intervening conditions and outcomes in the form of coding paradigm. Subsequently, in the selective coding step, each component of the coding paradigm was described, the story line was plotted and the theory was created. Finally, the strategic propositions and hypotheses of the research were develop.
