Abstarct: Purpose: Comparison of the effects of Progressive aerobic exercise with chicory supplemented, Progressive aerobic training alone and chicory supplemented alone on levels of liver enzymes (ALT, AST) in serum of patients with NAFLD. Method: 30 NAFLD patients with an age range of 25 to 60 years, were randomly divided into three groups: progressive aerobic exercise and chicory supplementation (n = 10), progressive aerobic exercise and placebo (n = 10) and chicory supplementation (n = 10). Consumed ethanol extract of chicory root (0/5 g / 100ml twice a day for eight weeks, 7.5 am and 2 pm), Progressive exercise program for eight weeks, with three sessions per week and Each session of 60 minutes of aerobics, With 55 percent of maximum heart rate during the first week and gradually increased with progression of the exercise program to 70 percent of maximum heart rate. Serum alanine aminotransferase and aspartate amino transferase, measured before and after intervention and Results using the paired Student t test and the significance level 0/05> P were tested. Results: After 8 weeks of progressive aerobic exercise with supplements of chicory group, progressive aerobic exercise and the placebo group, chicory supplementation group, serum levels of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase NAFLD showed a significant decrease (0/05> P). Conclusion: more favorable impact progressive aerobic and placebo program in reducing serum ALT and AST in patients with NAFLD compared to the chicory supplementation group, Progressive aerobic exercise program combined with chicory supplementation compared with the two groups (placebo and progressive aerobic exercise, supplementation of chicory) with decreased serum ALT and AST greater impact On prevention, control and treatment of NAFLD.
