GV262 : The effect of professional vitality on organizational commitment of physical education teachers with the mediating role of job performance

Abstarct: The present study investigated the effect of professional vitality on the job performance of physical education teachers with the mediating role of organizational commitment. The present study is a correlational study and in terms of purpose, it is an applied study. It is also a descxriptive-survey study in terms of data collection method. The statistical population of the study was all physical education teachers in Semnan province in the 2020-2021 academic year (240 people). In this study, the number of samples was determined according to the number of questions by estimating at least 2 times and at most 10 times of questions. Finally, 72 people completed the questionnaire by the convenience sampling method. The data collection tools were the standard questionnaires of professional vitality by Scott (2010), the professional commitment by Allen & Meyer (1990), and job performance by Patterson (2012), the reliability of each was confirmed by Cronbach's alpha and composit reliability indicators and face and content validity of them was also approved baxsed on the opinion of experts. The construct validity of the questionnaires was also confirmed using convergent and divergent validity criteria. The data analysis method was performed using the structural equation modeling method in Smart PLS.3 software. The results showed that professional vitality and organizational commitment have a significant and positive effect on teachers' job performance. Professional vitality also has a significant and positive effect on teachers' organizational commitment. As a result, organizational commitment plays a mediating role in the relationship between professional vitality and job performance. Therefore, in order to improve the performance of physical education teachers, it is better to first focus on strengthening their professional vitality, which at the same time, their commitment to the organization is improved, which in turn will lead to improving job performance.
