Abstarct: Background and Aim: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract. Exercise is one of the most important components of pulmonary rehabilitation. Exercise in water and on land has a different effect on patients with asthma. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of exercise type on respiratory characteristics of overweight adolescent boys with asthma. Methodology: For this purpose, 48 adolescent boys with overweight with asthma were divided into four groups: swimming (n = 12), walking (n = 12), combination (n = 12) and control (n = 12). Respiratory parameters (FVC, FEV1, FEV1 / FVC) were measured by spirometry twice before and after the training program. Analysis of variance was used to analyze the data with repeated measures at a significance level of P <0.05. Results: The results in all three training groups showed a significant increase in measured respiratory parameters compared to the control group. All exercise groups showed a significant increase in respiratory indices after the intervention; But none of the training groups was more significant than the other training group. Discussion and Conclusion: Considering the increase in respiratory parameters and the improvement of asthma patients, all the exercises used in the study can be recommended to patients with asthma.
