TN105 : Plant and tailing dam site selection of Sangan iron ore mine with multiple criteria decision making& GIS

Abstarct: Selection of the proper place for an activity in the level of country, province or city is to be the most important decision in global scale and needs to consider some general aspects. In addition, identification a sophisticated place has required to a wide variety of information to be combined and analysis in terms of accurate investigation. Sangan iron mine in the state of Razavi Khorasan has been located in the southeastern of Mashhad in a place so called Sangan and lays between longitudes E and latitudes N. Respect to the required initial material of the two units in the Khorasan steel complex with a total capacity of 1.6 million tones in the first phase, 2.6 pellet has to be allocated to this expressed complex. Furthermore, in the way of increasing the steel products and providing the feed of steel factory in the other province, capacity of the second phase is identified around the 2.6 million tones in the year. Therefore, in order to secure the expressed 2.6 million tones, necessity of having a steel production factory has indicated. Consequently, in this research, with attention to the location of the production factory in the second phase and waste related dumps, the impact of these two instructions on the sounded environment was evaluated firstly. Moreover, after the recognition of effective factors, with applying some relevant methods that have some capabilities in specification the proper place, assembling the adequate factors and also relying on the suitable software packages, an attempt has been made to find an optimum place of expressed production factory and related waste dumps. At last, the obtained results are to be introduced as an output. In the process of finding a place for production factory, at first, the best place is found relying on the GIS capability and map overlaying. Then, in order to determine the exact place in the considered site, the fundamental effective parameters are to be investigated in the three possible stages. In the next stage, with attention to the diverse factors such as minimum distance to mine, factory, offices and considering some hyper parameters such as available installation, distance to railway, waste dump, water resource, electrical powerhouse, wind path, proper dips of tailing dams, minimum distance to the main road and workshop and applying the fuzzy multi criteria decision making, the best option is to be indicated. In addition, in the way of indicating the place of tailing dam, 2 options has also been investigated baxsed on the 4 criteria and finally, selection of fuzzy AHP results in finding the proper related place.
