Abstarct: This thesis investigates the issue of robust control via intelligent algorithms for a quadratic boost DC/DC converter. Minimizing the tracking error, robustness against uncertainties, cancelling the disturbances and smooth output voltage are the key control objectives that must take into consideration. Due to existence of right-half plane (RHP) zeros in quadratic converters, to achive appropriate performance is very difficult with a single-loop control since the bandwidth is severely restricted by RHP zeros. We use Multiloop controllers including proportional (P) controller for current control loop (inner loop) and a controller for voltage control loop (outer loop). The controlleres will be designed using robust H∞ loopshaping control. However the good performance of the controller, the high order is not suitable for practical implementation. To solve this problem, the fixed-structure controller is used, where its coefficients are obtained by optimization algorithms like GA, PSO, SA, ICA and MA. Simulation results show the capability of these algorithms.
